Challenge
To design and create a MOLLE carriage platform that would be compatible with existing MOLLE pouches and could be used for both Overt and Covert operations.
Solution
A bespoke harness based off of a tried and tested platform and adapted to suit the customer brief, making the base panels larger to accomodate more pouches and adding dedicated MOLLE webbing on both sides.
Core Services
Bespoke product design, materials engineering, prototyping and sampling, UK-based small-batch manufacturing.
The force approached MC Products who liked the concept of our DU4T MOLLE harness which gives flexibility on positioning of pouches.
The force were looking for an initial order of 500 harnesses and corresponding MOLLE baton, handcuff and CS pouches for a force roll out.
Using the DU4T as a starting point our design team first refined the shape on the main panels as this change was the core of the new design. The panels needed to be much larger than our usual harnesses, large enough to carry multiple MOLLE pouches but not too large that the harness became uncomfortable or obtrusive during covert operations. Once this was in place the rest of the harness was designed around the panels. We settled on 1000D nylon, while adding a small cost uplift, this choice and the extra durability provided meant it would also be suitable for Overt use which was part of the original brief, key changes and improvements on the original concept during the design process are below;

Despite the complexity of the project, our years of experience designing equipment harnesses meant that the design team managed to fulfil the customer brief on the first iteration. A pre-production sample of the harness was sent to the client for approval, shortly after we received the order for 500 units. As there were no special requirements with the pouches we utilised models from our standard Protec range.
