Core Services

Bespoke product design, materials engineering, prototyping and sampling, UK-based small-batch manufacturing.

The Enquiry

The Force approached MC Products to produce a baton round pouch which required to fitted to the thigh area:

  • A robust design with Molle fastening
  • With pouches to fit 5 batons rounds in securely
  • But to also have the capability to access the rounds easily
  • The pouch need to be fitted to a molle thigh rig
  • They had a belt system with fittings which were different to our standard thigh rig

The forces were looking for an initial purchase of 100 of each and then to put in further smaller orders of 50 as top ups. These quantities fit in with our UK production model and could be produced at our factory in Kirkby.

The Project

Our Business Development Manager borrowed an Inert sample of the Force’s baton round and then briefed our designer of the forces requirements. We came up with a bespoke 5 round molle baton pouch and thigh rig with the following features to hit their brief:

  • A product made with 1000D reinforced nylon with our Protec molle fastening system.
  • The flaps on the 5 pouches all featured press stud and hook and loop fastening to give added security.
  • Each flap also had webbing pull loops to allow the wearer quick access.
  • The molle thigh was designed to fit the baton round pouch, so there was no dead space.
  • 2 adjustable straps ensures that the system is securely fastened with comfort in mind.
  • We sourced a compatible fitting to their current belt system.

The Result

The sampling process on this did take more than one go, as there were lot of elements to get right. But by liaising with the customer through phone calls and meetings we came up with a product which was a great fit for the force. We ended up supplying 100 of each unit which were delivered earlier this year.
